Put To Rest

Put To Rest is a heavy band hailing from Cincinnati, instilling a sense of groove into a metal base that really distinguishes them from the pack! Major Minor is honoured to play host to their first show in Calgary. Our own Graham Mackenzie was able to hit them up for an interview in anticipation of their arrival. Check them out at Monster Fest - Oct 26th at Monster Mini Golf (2020 32nd Ave NE). Tickets available here

Give us a brief history of the band, who are you, how did you form? when?

The band started back up after not being together for 7 years almost 2 years ago. Nick Ruholt, Ryne Pacheco and I are all original members. I had been in a band with our drummer Cody Patton and good friends with our other guitar player Drew Thomason for years and we all decided to come together. The band originally formed in 2011 but reformed in 2017.

Can you describe your music for us? what inspires the band, influences?

you are coming to Calgary , is this your first time touring Canada, first time in Calgary, what was motivation for touring Canada?

Our music is a collection of many of different influences. We all come into the writing process of making the music we want to hear. No genre in mind necessarily. We just want to play metal. We’re inspired by just that. Getting the opportunity to play the music we love and doing it together. Our influences range from R&B to emo or old school metal. We all like a bit of everything.

This will be our first time in Canada and we can’t wait! We want to take this band as far as it can possibly go and Canada is a huge step for us. Can’t wait to explore all it has to offer, experience everything about it and show everyone what we’re made of.

What release are you currently touring in support of? What else is in the works?

This will be our first time in Canada and we can’t wait! We want to take this band as far as it can possibly go and Canada is a huge step for us. Can’t wait to explore all it has to offer, experience everything about it and show everyone what we’re made of.

We’re currently touring in support of our latest EP “Coup De Grace” which is available on all streaming platforms. We’re hard at work on new material and might have a few things out sooner rather than later.

What is the Cincinnati music scene like? what are your favourite bands from your scene? who should ben our radar? which places /music scenes are you also part of? cities are much closer in USA than Canada.

The Cincinnati music scene is one big family. All the bands are great to each other and support each other. You should look out for guys like Inferious, Harbour, 90s Kids, Treason, Eternal Void & Vehemian. We’ve kind of been playing all around or tri-state area and trying to keep our name known in Columbus, Louisville, and Indianapolis.

Is there anything else we should know about Put to rest?

You should know that seeing Put To Rest live is an experience. We will bring a great show no matter the time or place. We stay busy and are always working on music.
